The question changed.
Obsidian began with a financial mission. Early community work showed that people’s decisions involve more than money.

What the broader mission includes.
TUC studies possible links between financial strain, health, time, information, and access. TUC does not claim one result for everyone.

Why the name changed.
We chose the Obsidian name for a banking goal. We chose The Understanding Company for broader public-service work. TUC works with people and partners to compare related information.

What we do now.
We use Augmented Understanding to connect local context with approved information. We show approved sources. We provide one clear next action. TUC develops Augmented Understanding with municipalities, public agencies, nonprofits, and foundations. Each partner makes the final decision.
What Augmented Understanding means.
Augmented Understanding shows approved information, shared context, and visible limits in one view. The view identifies the purpose, sources, limits, and responsible decision-maker. The view presents one clear next action. The responsible partner makes the final decision.
