Smart Nudges: a suggestion, not a block

Key points

  • A Smart Nudge is a short notification that suggests one step with your card, most often a lower per-purchase limit for a few hours.

  • Vueni sends one after a purchase with a high Stress Score, or about 15 minutes before an evening that has been hard lately.

  • You can answer from the notification: Lower my limit, Not tonight or Turn on Calm Mode.

  • With Smart Nudges only, nothing changes unless you say yes. That is the default setting, and it is in both plans.

  • In Automatic Calm Mode, part of Prism, Vueni acts on rules you set, then tells you what it did and when it ends.

What a Smart Nudge is

A Smart Nudge is a short notification from Vueni. It suggests one step you can take with your card. You decide what happens next.

Most nudges suggest a lower per-purchase limit for a few hours. The limit is sized so everyday things, like groceries, still go through.

Smart Nudges are in both plans, Sparkle and Prism.

When Vueni sends one

Vueni sends a nudge in two moments:

  • After a purchase that looks like a hard moment. Each purchase gets a Stress Score from 0 to 100, measured against your own usual pattern. When a score is high, Vueni may suggest a pause.

  • Before an evening that has been hard lately. If stressed purchases keep landing on the same night of the week, Vueni can nudge you about 15 minutes before that window starts.

A nudge reads like this: "Sunday nights have been hard lately. Set a $125 per-purchase limit until 8 AM?"

What you can do with it

Each nudge has buttons, so you can answer from the notification:

  • Lower my limit sets the suggested limit until the time shown.

  • Not tonight turns it down. Nothing changes.

  • Turn on Calm Mode starts Calm Mode before a hard evening begins.

With Smart Nudges only, nothing changes unless you say yes. That is the default setting.

When the limit lifts, Vueni tells you with a short "Calm Mode ended" notice.

How it fits with Calm Mode

Calm Mode is the setting behind nudges. It has two ways of working:

  • Smart Nudges only. Vueni suggests. You choose. This is in both plans.

  • Automatic. Vueni acts on rules you set, then tells you what it did and when it ends. This is part of Prism.

Your health signals feed your Stress Score. In Automatic Calm Mode, an elevated or high score can lower your per-purchase limit or pause your card for a few hours. Health signals are optional, and Vueni works without them.

Why a nudge and not a block

A hard night is not a rule you broke. A nudge gives you a moment to choose, with the reason in plain view. Every Stress Score lists the signals behind it, so you can see why Vueni asked.

Questions

Can I turn Smart Nudges off?

Yes. Notifications are controlled in iPhone Settings, like any app. You can also change how Calm Mode works inside Vueni.

Will a nudge ever stop a purchase?

Not on its own. A nudge only suggests. A limit changes only if you tap yes, or if you have turned on Automatic Calm Mode.

Why did I get a nudge for a purchase that felt fine?

Open the purchase to see its Stress Score and each reason behind it. The score compares the moment with your own usual pattern, so a single reason, like a very late hour, can add up.
