Key points
Vueni can use three signals from Apple Health: sleep, heart rate variability and resting heart rate.
These signals are computed on your iPhone. Vueni receives a derived score, never your raw health records.
Vueni compares each signal with your own baseline, not with other people.
Health data is never used for credit, underwriting or advertising, and Vueni never sells it.
Health signals are optional. You can turn them off at any time, and Vueni still works without them.
Why would a money app use health signals?
Hard days and big spending often arrive together. A short night or a stressful week can change how a late-night order feels in the moment.
Your card statement cannot see that. Health signals give Vueni one more piece of context. They help it tell an ordinary purchase from one that happened on a hard day.
Health signals never decide anything on their own. They are one part of the stress score, next to the time, the pace of your orders, the category and your return history.
Which Apple Health data does Vueni use?
Vueni uses three signals:
Sleep. How long you slept compared with your usual.
Heart rate variability (HRV). How your HRV compares with your own baseline.
Resting heart rate. How your resting heart rate compares with your own baseline.
Vueni compares each signal with your own usual levels. It does not compare you with other people, and it does not judge whether a number is good or bad for your health.
Where is the data processed?
On your iPhone. The signals are computed on the device, and Vueni receives a derived score, not your raw health records.
That means Vueni does not receive your full sleep history or every heart rate reading. It receives only what it needs to add context to a purchase.
Do you need an Apple Watch?
No. Apple Health collects data from several sources, and Vueni reads the three signals from Apple Health, not from a specific device.
Apple Watch writes sleep, heart rate variability and resting heart rate to Apple Health.
WHOOP can sync sleep and resting heart rate to Apple Health, and Oura can sync sleep. Turn on Apple Health sync in the Oura or WHOOP app.
Other devices and apps count when their data is in Apple Health.
Whatever the source, the same rule holds. The signals are computed on your iPhone, and Vueni receives a derived score.
If a signal is missing, Vueni leaves it out of the score. Vueni works without any health data at all.
How do you connect Apple Health?
Open the Vueni app on your iPhone.
Go to your connections and choose Apple Health.
Read the short explanation of what Vueni uses.
Your iPhone shows the Apple Health permission screen. Choose which data types to allow.
Return to Vueni.
You choose each data type yourself on the Apple Health screen, and you can allow some and not others.
How do health signals show up in Vueni?
They appear as lines in a purchase’s stress score. Each line shows the signal, how it compares with your baseline and how many points it adds.
For a late-night purchase after a rough night, the health lines might read:
Short sleep: 2 hours 12 minutes below their usual.
HRV down: 18% below their baseline.
Resting heart rate up: 6% above their baseline.
Vueni only uses a recent signal, so last week’s short night does not count against tonight. Health signals also do not raise the score on essentials like groceries.
Is Vueni a medical app?
No. Vueni does not diagnose, treat or monitor any health condition. It uses health signals only as context for spending. If you have questions about your health, talk to a qualified health professional.
How does Vueni protect your health data?
These rules apply to all health data in Vueni:
Vueni never uses health data for credit, underwriting or advertising.
Vueni never sells health data.
You can turn health signals off at any time.
How do you turn it off?
You can stop sharing in two places:
In Vueni, go to your connections and disconnect Apple Health.
On your iPhone, open the Health settings for apps and turn off access for Vueni.
After you turn it off, Vueni scores purchases without health signals.
