Key points
Calm Mode is a Vueni setting that responds when a purchase scores high for stress.
By default, Calm Mode only suggests. You can take the suggestion or turn it down.
A typical suggestion is a lower per-purchase limit until morning, sized from your own essential spending so groceries still go through.
If you turn on automatic Calm Mode, it can lower your limit or pause your card for a few hours, and it always tells you what it did and when it ends.
Calm Mode acts on what comes next. It does not cancel a purchase that already went through.
Why a softer limit
Most money apps react to stress spending after the fact. You get a chart at the end of the month. By then, the hard night is long over.
Calm Mode works in the moment instead. It offers one small, temporary change and then gets out of the way.
The three settings
You choose how much Calm Mode can do:
Off. Calm Mode never acts.
Suggest. This is the default. Calm Mode sends Smart Nudges, which are suggestions you can take or leave.
Automatic. Calm Mode can lower your per-purchase limit or pause your card for a few hours. It always tells you what it did and when it ends.
You can change the setting at any time.
What a Smart Nudge looks like
Say it’s 1:10 AM on a Thursday and you’ve placed a third food-delivery order since dinner, after a short night. Vueni scores the purchase high against your own baseline, mostly for the hour, the pace of orders and the sleep.
Vueni then sends a Smart Nudge suggesting a $60 per-purchase limit until 8 AM. You see the reasons, the amount and the end time. You can accept with one tap or turn it down.
If they accept, the limit applies to each purchase until 8 AM. Then it lifts on its own. Nothing else changes.
How the limit is sized
A limit that blocks groceries would cause harm. So Vueni sizes the limit from your own spending on essentials, such as groceries, fuel and pharmacy. It sets the limit a little above your larger essential purchases. It also never goes below a set minimum.
In the example, a $60 limit still covers a normal grocery or pharmacy run. A fourth delivery order with fees and tip would not.
It acts on the next purchase
Calm Mode does not cancel the purchase that triggered it. That purchase already went through. Calm Mode changes what can happen next, for a few hours.
If you regret the first purchase, you still have options. Vueni can remind you before the return window closes. Our guide to return windows explains how.
Getting ahead of a hard night
Some hard moments repeat. Vueni looks for patterns across weeks of purchases. If your hard nights tend to be Sundays, for example,
Calm Mode can offer a limit before that window starts. You get the suggestion early in the evening, while you still feel calm. That is often the easiest time to decide.
Lighter moments
Not every stressed purchase needs a limit. When a score is elevated but not high, Calm Mode may send only a short check-in. It says today looks heavier than usual and asks if you want to sleep on the next one.
Pausing during a run
Sometimes purchases come in a quick run. If you allow it in automatic mode, Calm Mode can pause your card for a few hours instead of lowering the limit. You see the pause, the reason and the time it ends.
What Calm Mode will not do
It will not rate you as a person.
It will not act without telling you what it did and when it ends.
It will not block essentials by design. The limit is sized so they still go through.
It will not use your health data for credit, underwriting or advertising.

Questions
Will Calm Mode block my purchases?
Not unless you turn on automatic mode. By default it only sends Smart Nudges. In automatic mode it can lower your per-purchase limit or pause your card for a few hours, and it tells you what it did and when it ends. Gambling is the one block on every card, separate from Calm Mode.
How long does a Calm Mode limit last?
Each limit has an end time that you see before you accept it. In the example, the limit lasts until 8 AM, then lifts on its own.
Can I still buy groceries with Calm Mode on?
Yes, in most cases. Vueni sizes the limit from your own essential purchases so that groceries, fuel and pharmacy purchases still go through.
Vueni is an invite‑only card and account.
